The UNA-USA, SPSC is proud to announce a four-day festival celebration in Horry County, SC, from Thursday, August 19,2021 – Sunday, August 22, 2021, to honor and celebrate the historical heritage and culture of our unique community. The kick- off event will be held from 11:00 am-6:00 pm at the iconic House of Blues, located at 4640 Highway 17-S, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
The Humanities Festival started in 1993 to honor the South Carolina Humanities 20th Anniversary, and since that time, the Humanities Festival has been held annually in 20 different communities in South Carolina. This year – summer 2021 – Horry County is the first-time proud host of the festivities sponsored by South Carolina Humanities Council. Each festival celebrates the host community’s local history, heritage, and culture, engaging citizens in lectures, discussions, films, and exhibits. Come and celebrate the rich cultural traditions, folklore, heritage, history, and international relations of Horry County, SC, with us!
At this exciting 27th Annual South Carolina Humanities Festival event, we will proudly present the COMMUNITY HUMANITARIAN RECOGNITION to the TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, SC, for their community and historical contribution to the state of South Carolina. The Town of Atlantic Beach, SC, historically is the cornerstone of the African American community. We will be hosting a “Welcome to Horry County Luncheon,” where select members of the community will be honored for their service and dedication to cultivating and preserving the history, heritage, and culture of Horry County.
Ms. Doreen Williams, the CEO & President of the United Nations Association, Southern Palmetto State Chapter, provides her extensive expertise and leadership in organizing and launching the Humanities Festival in Horry County, SC. Ms. Williams brings excellence to all her professional endeavors, having devoted her time and energy to the betterment of our local, national, and international communities through her work with the United Nations, Capitol Hill, and the White House Administration.
The UNA-USA, SPSC is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and mobilizing Americans to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations.
